Tennessee CoverKids Program

Eligibility Requirements
Tennessee's CoverKids Children's Health Insurance Program is accessible to pregnant women and children through the age of 18. To qualify for benefits under the CoverKids Program, applicants must reside in the State of Tennessee and not currently have health insurance nor have had health insurance in the past 3 months. You may not be eligible to receive TennCare benefits nor have access to state employee medical coverage. All applicants must be Tennessee residents who are U.S. citizens or qualified legal aliens. Family income must not exceed 250% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Waiting Periods
There is a waiting period of three months from the date of voluntary termination of prior health insurance coverage. Waiting periods are waived for newborns up to 4 months old.

CoverKids will offer one health plan to all eligible members.

Premium Payments, Co-Payments and Coinsurance
For recipients whose families make less than 250% of the Federal Poverty Level, no monthly premiums will be required. Minimal co-pays will be assessed for specific medical treatments, including prescription drug coverage. Total annual out-of-pocket expenses may not exceed 5% of the family's annual income.

Program Length, Enrollment and Renewal
The Tennessee ALL Kids program offers 12 months of continuous coverage. Renewal forms and premium payment notices will be sent out every 12 months. Children already enrolled in the program will have their benefits renewed if eligibility requirements are met.
