Eligibility Requirementss
To qualify for Pennsylvania CHIP, a child must be under the age of 19 and be a resident of Pennsylvania. They may not currently be covered by health insurance or be eligible for Medicaid. Children must be a US citizen or legal resident and the family must meet income guidelines.

Waiting Periodss
There is no waiting period for those eligible for CHIP benefits.

Service and Benefits

Health Plan Choicess
CHIP offers one basic health care plan available to all eligible members, regardless of geographical location within Pennsylvania. There are many different insurance companies that provide benefits under CHIP, including Aetna, Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Providers of the CHIP Health plan vary by county.

Premium Payments, Co-Payments and Coinsurancee
Monthly premiums, if any, are minimal and are based on the family income level of qualifying children. There are no co-payments required for health care services.

Program Length, Enrollment and Renewall
Pennsylvania CHIP offers 12 months of continuous coverage and requires a renewal application be submitted prior to the end of the 12 month period.
