More State Children's Health Insurance Programs
Oregon SCHIP is managed under the Oregon Health Plan that also manages the risk pool and Medicaid program in the state. The state-funded SCHIP program provides health insurance to Oregon children under the age of 19 that meet certain income requirements.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for Oregon SCHIP, a child must be reside in the state of Oregon. They must also be a U.S. citizen or legal resident and meet the income guidelines that are based on below 185% of the federal poverty level.
Waiting Periods
There is a 6 month waiting period from the termination date of prior health insurance coverage that was terminated voluntarily.

There is one health plan available that offers the same level of coverage to all children enrolled in the program.
Premium Payments, Co-Payments and Coinsurance
Premium amounts are based on your level of family income and family size and can range from $9 to $20 per person, per month. There may be a minimal $5 co-payment required for some covered services.
Program Length, Enrollment and Renewal
The Oregon state CHIP program offers temporary coverage for a period of 6 months. At the end of the 6 month period, you must reapply.
