Eligibility Requirements
Children under the age of 19 are eligible for Healthy Start, as well as pregnant women who qualify based on income. You are not eligible if you have other health insurance in effect. The family income must meet the guidelines, which are based on no more than 200% of the federal poverty level.
Waiting Periods
There may be a waiting period from the termination date of prior health insurance, if that coverage was terminated voluntarily. Contact Ohio Healthy Start for additional information about waiting periods and what this means.

Premium Payments, Co-Payments and Coinsurance
There are no premiums or co-payments required from families in the lower income brackets. Thos that qualify for the program under the higher income bracket may have minimal co-payments of $1 or $3.
Program Length, Enrollment and Renewal
Enrollment in the Healthy Start program is subject to annual eligibility review. Each year you will be required to complete a renewal application that will determine if you still qualify to have your children enrolled in this program.
