Ohio Health Start, the state sponsored program, provides health coverage to uninsured children under the age of 19 and whose family income falls in certain income guidelines.
Children, who reside in Ohio and a U.S. citizen, are eligible for Healthy Start, as well as pregnant women who qualify based on income. You are not eligible if you have other health insurance in effect. The family income must meet the guidelines, which are based on no more than 200% of the federal poverty level.
There may be a waiting period from the termination date of prior health insurance, if that coverage was terminated voluntarily. Contact Ohio Healthy Start for additional information about waiting periods and what this means.
