Eligibility Requirements
MCHP gives full health benefits for children up to the age of 19 and pregnant women of any age who meet the income guidelines. Some children who already have health insurance may still qualify. Qualifying incomes for children are based on 200% of the federal poverty level and 250% for pregnant women.

Waiting Periods
Many state children's health insurance programs require that a child must be uninsured for up to 6 months before they can be eligible for the health care program. MCHP, in some cases, is available to children even if they have current health insurance. For most applicants, coverage can begin within 30 days of submitting your application.
