PeachCare for Kids provides comprehensive health care to Georgia children through the age of 18 who do not qualify for Medicaid and who meet certain income requirements.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for coverage under PeachCare your child must be a citizen of the United States, certain qualified legal residents, refugees or asylees. Children that have existing health insurance coverage are not eligible. Your family's income has to be lower than the allowable maximum level for the size of your family, which is based on 235% of the federal poverty level. Your child must not have the option to be covered under an employer sponsored group plan or be a dependent of a State of Georgia employee. This includes employees of the public school system and the Board of Regents who have access to state health benefits. The exclusion does not apply to part-time and temporary employees who are not eligible to enroll in the state health benefit plan.
Waiting Periods
There is a six month waiting period from the date of termination of prior group health insurance coverage if it was terminated voluntarily. This waiting period does not apply for children who were covered under private insurance. There is a one month waiting period for reinstatement if a family fails to pay the monthly premium.

There is no cost to children under the age of six. Currently the cost per month for PeachCare for Kids coverage is $10 to $35 for one child and a maximum of $70 for two or more children living in the same household.
