Delaware Healthy Children Program

Eligibility Requirements
Your children may qualify if they do not heave comprehensive health insurance, and are a resident of Delaware under the age of 19. They will also need to be a U.S. citizen or a qualified non-citizen and cannot be a dependent of a State of Delaware employee. A family must meet income eligibility based on the size of your family and your gross income which is based on 200% of the federal poverty level.

Waiting Periods
There is a six month waiting period to be eligible for coverage if the child has lost health coverage. Pre existing conditions are not excluded.

Delaware Healthy Children Program pays for a comprehensive health care benefits package, including:

You have a choice of two managed care plans: Coventry/Delaware Care and First State Health Plan.

Premium Payments, Co-Payments and Coinsurance
There is a monthly premium depending on your household's size and income. Most families pay $10, $15, of $25 per month. If you pay 3 months in advance the fourth month is free. There are no co-payments for most covered services and even prescription drugs are covered at 100%.

Program Length, Enrollment and Renewal
Length of the Delaware program is for 12 months. Prior to renewal a review is necessary. You will be contacted by mail to complete a new application to re-establish your child's eligibility.
