Eligibility Requirements
Denali KidCare is the Alaska state children's health insurance program available to children and teens through the age of 18 and pregnant women who meet low-income requirements. To be eligible for the program, you must reside in Alaska and your family must meet the low-income guidelines. Income guidelines are based on 150% of the federal poverty level and on the size of the household. The income requirements for pregnant women are slightly higher and the unborn child counts toward family size. The same health plan is available to all eligible members, regardless on geographical location within Alaska.
Waiting Periods
There is a 12 month waiting period in most cases for children of families who have voluntarily cancelled previous health insurance.
Premium Payments, Co-Payments and Coinsurance
There is no premium charged to eligible members. There are no co-payments for any of the covered services offered to Denali KidCare members who are under the age of 18.

Program Length, Enrollment and Renewal
Enrollment in the Denali KidCare program is temporary health insurance coverage and will expire at the end of 6 months. You may renew your coverage up to 45 days of expiration by completing a renewal form that will review your eligibility.
