Headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, Physicians Mutual Insurance Company opened its doors in 1902 for the purpose of providing insurance to medical and dental health care professionals. While still a young company, a worldwide influenza epidemic struck, killing more than 500,000 Americans. Despite this national catastrophe, Physicians Mutual stood by its customers and held strong. Physicians Mutual continues to exercise this same diligence to this day. As a result of its initial successes, it did not take long before Physicians Mutual was called to begin offering its line of insurance products to all Americans. In 1970, as the company once again began having growing pains, they saw a need to diversify. It was then that Physicians Life Insurance Company was formed to offer life insurance and annuity products. Physicians Mutual Insurance Company and Physicians Life Insurance Company are members of the Physicians Mutual Family of companies.

Temporary Major Medical Insurance

Temporary Major Medical plans are ideal for those who are in between jobs and without medical coverage or a student in need of a short term plan. Physicians Mutual offers a major medical product that gives you some of the most comprehensive coverage available to help make sure that you are protected for covered hospital stays, doctor office visits, outpatient treatment and more. With this temporary plan, you can choose the length of time you would like to have coverage in effect, ranging from 30 to 180 days. You may even apply for coverage under a second policy later if your temporary situation lasts longer than you had anticipated.

Hospitalization Insurance
Physicians Mutual Hospitalization plan provides the policyholder with daily cash benefits to cover the loss of income incurred during a hospital stay or to pay unforeseen medical expenses not covered under your traditional health insurance policy.
