The William Harvey Life Insurance Company, as it was first known, was founded in 1923 and incorporated in 1965 as the Trinity National Life and Accident Insurance Company, with health insurance being added to its product portfolio in 1966. After much growth and the continued expansion of its health insurance portfolio of product, the company decided in 1978 to once again change its name. At that time, the company now known as National Health Insurance Company, filed as a Legal Reserve Company in the state of Texas.
Responsible for the design of the first 100% catastrophic health plan with high deductible for self-employed individuals and small group entities in the mid 70's, National Health Insurance Company has continued to make these groups their primary target to this day.
