Care 1st Health Plan - Arizona

With more than 22 years of experience in the health care industry, Care1st Health Plans is relatively new to the state of Arizona. Care 1st Health Plan Arizona, Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Care 1st Health Plans now contracting with the State of Arizona to provide health care benefits through the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS), also known as Medicaid.

Medicaid, though known by various different names, is a jointly sponsored health insurance program, available to indigent individuals and families who meet certain income requirements and are considered eligible. Through its contract with AHCCCS, Care1st Health Plan of Arizona proudly offers a comprehensive design of benefit packages through AHCCCS and KidsCare Arizona. These products are limited to Maricopa County, Arizona.

Because Care 1st Health Plan of Arizona solely administers its health plan to AHCCCS and KidsCare beneficiaries, they are not responsible for enrolling eligible members into the plan. Eligibility is determined by the Department of Economic Security and applications for enrollment may be obtained at your local DES office or AHCCCS Administration office. Applications may also be obtained at a local SSA office.

One of the Care 1st Health Plans available to Maricopa residents is offered through the KidsCare Program. KidsCare is a program designed to meet the needs of qualified, eligible children under the age of 19 who reside within the state and are in need of health care benefits. Under the Care 1st Health plan, beneficiaries receive benefits which include doctor office visits, hospitalization, maternity care, prescription drug coverage, laboratory and x-ray services, immunizations, dental health benefits, vision and hearing services and a multitude of other benefits.

Another of the programs which offers benefits through Care 1st Health Plan of Arizona is called HealthCare Group of Arizona. As with the KidsCare program, HealthCare Group of Arizona is a state-sponsored insurance plan. Available to owners of uninsured small businesses who employ 50 or less employees, HealthCare Group of Arizona offers a design of three HMO plans, each of which provides a different level of benefits at different premium amounts. All three plans have no annual deductible and two of the plans have no co-payment for doctor office visits.

For Medicare eligible seniors in Arizona, Care 1st offers the OneCare Medicare Health Plan. As with the other Care 1st Health Plans, the OneCare Medicare Health Plan offers a broad range of benefit designs with individual needs and budgets in mind.
