American Community Mutual Insurance Company

History

In 1938 a group of individuals in Livonia, Michigan got together and formed a business known as American Hospital-Medical benefit, for the purpose of marketing a basic hospital-surgical health insurance plan. This plan was the first individual and group product of its kind to be offered throughout Michigan. In 1947, those same individuals formed Community Life Insurance Company and began promoting a line of life insurance products. In 1964 the companies merged to become what we now know as American Community Mutual Insurance Company.

Well known throughout the state of Michigan as one of the largest providers of group health insurance, American Community Mutual Insurance Company continues to offer individual health and life plans in Michigan and has expanded the sale of its product line to Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Ohio and Pennsylvania.

With this in mind, American Community strives to offer affordable, quality health plans, rich in benefits with flexible coverage. From their line of product, consumers may choose from Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans, Consumer Driven High Deductible health plans, or Short Term Major Medical plans. Also available through the individual line of product are dental, vision and maternity coverage options.

Known for its Group Health plans, American Community Mutual Insurance Company offers an array of flexible group plans which include life, dental, vision, weekly income and accidental death and dismemberment coverage options.
