With more than 80 years experience in the insurance industry, Nationwide began transacting business as the Farm Bureau Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in Ohio. With its primary goal to offer affordable automobile insurance to farmers in rural areas of Ohio, Farm Bureau Mutual wrote its first policy in 1926. Within a few short years, they had expanded their product offering to include property insurance policies and were now providing coverage to residents of 12 states and the District of Columbia. In 1955, the Farm Bureau Mutual Automobile Insurance Company having far exceeded their expectations of growth changed their name and became known as Nationwide Insurance Company. Today, Nationwide is recognized as one of the largest insurance and financial services companies in the world and, through Nationwide Health Plans, provides quality health insurance coverage to residents of California and Ohio.

Nationwide Health Plan Options

Nationwide Health Plans provides health insurance and offer: a choice of CCN network doctors and hospitals in 50 States, a choice of deductibles on most plans, affordable co-pays from $25 to $45 for In-Network doctor office visits, prescription drug benefits with no mandatory formulary and an annual preventive care benefits for adults and children.

Nationwide Health Plans of Ohio offers individual and family health insurance coverage, employer-sponsored group health plans and individual travel insurance policies. For individual and family coverage, the Nationwide Health Plan portfolio of health products is impressive and offers a variety of Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO), Medicare supplements, dental and life insurance plans. For employer-sponsored group health plans, Nationwide Health Plans of Ohio has proudly partnered with Allied National Companies to provide its members with a superior line of employee benefit plans. Employer-sponsored group health plans through Nationwide Health Plans are targeted for groups with 2-50 employees.

For individuals and families, Nationwide Health Plans of Ohio offer a variety of PPO plans. Included in these choices of plans are the MyChoice PPO health plans and the Lifestyle series of health plans. MyChoice offers the PPO Choice Saver Select and the PPO Choice 30. The MyChoice plans are catastrophic plans designed to offer coverage to individuals at an affordable price. These plans offer a range of deductibles and co-insurance levels. The Lifestyle series of health plans offered by Nationwide Health Plans offer great benefits with multiple plan designs, deductible and co-insurance rates to choose from. In addition to the health benefits offered through the Nationwide Health Plans, offers individuals the options of adding on-the-spot discounts and value-added features which are not typically covered by health insurance.

In California, Nationwide's PPO Choice and LifeStyle Series plans are offered by Nationwide Health Plans and the California Farm Bureau Federation for individuals under age 65. Enrollment in a Nationwide health plan requires enrollment and membership in the California Farm Bureau Federation. Membership and enrollment in Nationwide Health Plans also offers on-the-spot discounts and value-added features which are not typically covered by health insurance.

Nationwide also offers Medicare supplemental plans to senior residents of California that are Medicare eligible and covered under Medicare's parts A and B.
