Travel Insurance Quote
My husband and I are traveling to Denmark, Sweden and Norway next month, partially on business and then some sight seeing. We are both 60 years old, in good health, with no pre-exsisting health issues. How can I get a quote for travel health insurance?
Many travel insurance companies provide instant quotes and can even let you compare the different plan options and purchase coverage directly online. Since travel health insurance is not as comprehensive as long-term domestic health insurance, the application process is quick and easy. Under the travel health insurance quotes page of our website, you will find quotes from two different travel insurance companies, Specialty Risk International (SRI) and Multi-National Underwriters (MNUI). Both of these companies are very similar in the type of benefits they offer, as well as their limitations on coverage. There are other insurance companies that are not represented on our website, and you could find these by doing a web search for “travel health insurance.”
You want to look at “short-term” travel insurance policies for U.S. citizens traveling outside of the U.S. Most travel insurance polices will charge different premium amounts based on your nationality, where you are traveling and for how long. Coverage can be made effective as soon as the following day and your ID cards are often printable directly from your computer.
I think it should be added here that those countries (Denmark, Norway and Sweden), have socialized health care systems where all medical expenses are paid for trough taxes. This actually also extends to citizens that are visiting those countries from other European Union countries as well. For travelers from outside those countries there is no ‘free’ health care although emergency treatment will is free and will not be billed for anyone. The Nordic health care systems generally offer a very high level of care and quality, so there is really no need to worry about going to a private hospital, which may not even be available in the area you are traveling. That may be something to consider when you want to purchase health insurance. But even if emergency treatment is free for all nationalities, transport to your home country is not, so that’s something to keep in mind if you want to purchase temporary health insurance.
