Q: My Mom is coming to visit me and I need to buy a health insurance for her. She is 78 years old.
A: In order to best assist you, may we ask a couple of questions?
1) Where is she coming from?
2) How long will she be here?
3) Does she have any pre-existing medical conditions that will require treatment while she is here?
She is coming from St. Petersburg, Russia on December 11th 2006. I would like her to stay here for 5-6 months. She got her visa for a half of the year. As I know, she does not have any of the usually listed pre-existing medical conditions.

The type of coverage she will need is a travel health insurance policy for a foreign resident visiting the U.S.
Due to her age, the maximum coverage limit available through the insurance companies listed on our website is $50,000. These polices are renewable for up to 1 year, so you should only purchase coverage for the length of time that you are certain she will be here. Unused months are non-refundable.
We have two travel insurance companies listed on our website that provide instant online quotes and applications. The policy can be purchased online and coverage can be issued as soon as the following day. Here is a link to that page of our website Travel Health Insurance
Six months of coverage with a $500 deductible is close to $1,400 per month. You can lower this premium amount by increasing the deductible and reducing the length of coverage. For instance, 4 months of coverage with a $1,000 deductible is just over $800 per month. If she needed to extend her coverage beyond 4 months, she could add additional time to her policy prior to the expiration date. Please note that these policies do not include coverage for pre-existing medical conditions.
