When is the Texas Medicare open enrollment period? What possible reasons could an application for a Medicare Supplements plan be rejected?
Texas Medicare Supplement insurance companies cannot deny your application during the open enrollment period regardless of your health condition. Health insurance companies must let you buy any Medigap or Medicare supplement plans they offer. However, you have to carefully select which company to buy a health plan from because not all of them offer all of the 12 standardized Medigap plans. Most of the Texas Medicare Supplement insurance carriers offer only Plan A to individuals under age 65. However, they are entitled to a second open enrollment period upon reaching the age of 65. This gives them another chance and more options which are available only for seniors. In case you lose private health insurance coverage, whether it is an individual or group plan, you can use the Medigap Guaranteed Issue Rights. It means that health insurance companies must sell you a policy that covers pre-existing conditions. You have to get a supplemental policy within 63 days after losing coverage of the private health plan. Once you’ve missed the open enrollment period, insurance companies gain the right to go through the medical underwriting process and can deny an application. It is advisable that you get a Texas Medicare Supplement Policy during the open enrollment period because of the flexibility of the terms offered to you.
