As a college sophomore I find student insurance insufficient as it doesn’t almost cover for anything including dental services. How should I look for a better insurance for myself that’s just right for me?

The lower monthly premium that usually comes with student insurance policies is one good reason why they have lower coverages. That’s why in considering student insurance you should understand the policy details as you would with any regular insurance policy.   Another reason is that students tend to be younger and healthier than others buying health insurance.

If you really don’t want a student insurance plan anymore, shop around for available individual health insurance in your area.  You may also consult with a local licensed agent that works with major insurance companies to assist you in choosing the best insurance policy that’s just right for you.  Getting the advice of an insurance agent shouldn’t cost you anything. You must expect, however, that an individual health insurance will costs you more than student insurance.

The cost of  an individual plan varies depending on the state where you are, your age and your health.  That is, the younger and healthy you are the better chance you have to get low-priced health insurance options.  To get the best deal you should consider a plan that has high deductibles and yet with only basic insurance coverages in it.  For some people, they only choose catastrophic policy to save insurance cost.

While you’re at it, check other student insurance plans out there.  There are still reasonable student insurance plans that are quite flexible and still affordable. Just make sure that you get these from reputable insurance companies to avoid scams.
