What is a primary applicant?
When completing your application for health insurance, you will be asked to list the primary applicant. This refers to the head of the family in whose name the policy will be issued. This may be the husband or the wife, or either registered name of a domestic partnership if recognized in your state. For employer-sponsored group health plans, the primary applicant will be the employee of the company. If you are applying for coverage for just yourself, you will list your name as the primary applicant. If you are applying for coverage for just a child, then you will list the child as the primary applicant, even if they are not old enough to sign the application. A primary applicant must always be a person that will be included on the health plan. In most cases, if the primary applicant is of legal age, then that person must also sign the application for insurance. If a child is the primary applicant, a parent or legal guardian must sign the application on their behalf.
Where and how can I get a family insurance plan in Alabama. We are a family of 3. I will soon be quitting my job to become a stay at home mom and take care of our son more. Both of us parents have spent to much time working lately so it will be nice to have more time as a family. My husband has health insurance from his company, but it is very expensive as the company is small and only has around 20 employees. So we will need to find a family insurance plan that will work. So far, I am having a hard time finding a plan that has good coverage and affordable premiums. Do you know of a company we should look at? Please remember we live in Alabama.
