What are my options for obtaining Pennsylvania health insurance? I just started a business, work by myself, and am currently on COBRA. I already have a type of plan in mind but I want to know if I have other options.
Since you are self-employed and only have yourself to think of getting a Pennsylvania health insurance plan, you may opt for a High Deductible Health Plan and match it up with a Health Savings Account (HSA). Assuming you are a healthy individual and does not need to visit the doctor regularly, you may limit your coverage to emergency benefits only. This way you will have a lower premium. Whatever you can save from the premium, you can then deposit to your HSA. HSA is usually tax-free when used exclusively for medical expenses. Your deposit also accumulates every year. You can check the rates from the insurance companies. The premium and other chargers are usually based on your zip code, age, and of course, health condition. When you consider other options for Pennsylvania health insurance, you must always check if you really need all the benefits offered and included in a plan. Be discerning and always consult the summary of benefits so you can maximize your health insurance plan. Answer by general public - July 24, 2009 @ 2:53 pm No CommentsNo comments yet.
