The rates of my Ohio health insurance plan went up, and honestly, the increase is beyond my budget. I only learned about the new rates when I got my paycheck. Is it advisable to drop my policy?
With regard to dropping your insurance policy, you should think about it further. You can opt out of your Ohio health insurance plan anytime you want, but you should also consider how expensive health insurance is. It’s costly to get an individual health plan because you’ll need to pay the entire premium as opposed to paying only part of the premium in a group health plan. It’s also going to be hard on you if you don’t have some form of insurance from an Ohio health insurance company. Most uninsured individuals tend to postpone seeking care or never receive care when they need it because health care is very expensive. If you are prescribed some expensive medicine for a certain illness and you can’t fulfill the prescription because you just can’t afford it, then your condition might get worse. Those uninsured are less likely to get regular check-ups and medical treatment because of the medical bills that they have to pay without the help of their health insurance policies. What you can do instead of dropping your Ohio health insurance plan because of the high rates is to swap it for another type of health plan. You should evaluate your current health coverage and change it to a high deductible plan. Check if the premium of the new plan is still within your budget. You can talk to your employer and the insurance company about changing plans. Answer by general public -June 19, 2009 @ 3:54 pm No CommentsNo comments yet. Leave a comment |
