Never Received Insurance Cards

My insurance came into effect 06-01-06 and I have not received any cards and I need to get prescriptions refilled. Please advise.

Your pharmacy may not need your health insurance card to verify your eligibility. All they should require is the name of your insurance company and your policy ID number. You can contact your new insurance company and they should be able to provide you with this information. If you do not have the contact information for your insurance company, reply to us with your state of residence and the name of your insurance and we will try to find the appropriate phone number for you.

  1. My pharmacy is the one that told me I can’t get a prescription without giving them the card.

  2. Did you provide them with the name of your insurance company and policy ID number? That is probably the only reason they want the card. They can call your insurance company to verify your coverage. You can also call your insurance company and see if they will fax you proof of coverage. While you have them on the phone, you might also have them suggest an alternative pharmacy, just in case you continue to get hassles from your current pharmacy.
