Medicare has 12 standardized Medicare supplement insurance plans called Medigap policies. Supplements pay for other health care costs not covered by the original Medicare health insurance plans which are usually Medicare Part A and B. Part D is optional but is recommended especially for those who take prescription drugs regularly. Part D is also designed based on a person’s medicine needs.
