How can I apply for Medicare insurance?
Enrolling in Medicare insurance is not difficult. You can apply for Medicare anytime but you will be automatically enrolled in Medicare at age 65. Medicare insurance is administered in two parts. Medicare Part A pays for hospitalization expenses. Medicare Part B, pays for other medical expenses such as doctors’ visits and outpatient services. If you are eligible for Medicare insurance, you are automatically enrolled in Medicare Part A and Part B in the month you turn 65. There is a premium you have to pay for coverage under Part B. To enroll in Medicare insurance, and use its benefits, you have to check if you are eligible, compile the necessary papers, and submit your application. First you need to determine your eligibility for Medicare insurance. You are automatically eligible if you are aged 65 years or older. You are also eligible if you are already receiving disability benefits for two years, if you are undergoing kidney dialysis, or if you are a kidney transplant patient. If you need to apply for Medicare, you have compile all the papers needed for your application to Medicare insurance. These papers usually include your birth certificate, driver’s license, social security card, any proof of insurance, and the names of the doctors or clinics that will attest to your disability. Your Medicare card usually arrives three months before your 65th birthday. If you are not automatically eligible and still want to apply for Medicare you can apply through the offices of the Social Security Administration. If, in five months, you will be turning 65 years old, and you have not received your enrollment information for Social Security and Medicare benefits yet, you can apply for both at the same time. It might be best if you apply three months before you turn 65 so that you can immediately use the benefits of your Medicare insurance when you turn 65 years old. Otherwise, your healthcare coverage may be delayed. You can also call Medicare directly, or visit a local Social Security office.
