What are the reasons why a medical insurance company denies some individuals’ applications for medical insurance?
Medications taken by an applicant in the past could potentially be a reason for a medical insurance company to deny the application. Some insurance companies consider previously prescribed drugs for certain conditions as a basis for denial. Only medications for conditions related to the major organs (brain, heart, or stomach) were previously thought to be causes for denial; however, there was one instance when an insurance company denied a woman’s application for medical insurance because she took fertility drugs in the past to conceive kids. Weight is also a factor that a medical insurance company will consider when approving applications for health insurance. Several overweight and underweight individuals have been denied coverage because they did not meet some insurance companies’ weight requirements. Your family’s medical history will also be looked into by the insurer. Usually, people with family histories of diabetes, cancer, or some genetic illnesses have a higher rate of denial compared to people with a healthy family. Pre-existing condition is also a big factor in getting a health policy. There are several insurance companies though that offer insurance policies to individuals with pre-existing medical conditions but pre-existing conclusions usually apply. You still have other options if a medical insurance company denies your application. You can check with other insurance companies that will offer coverage despite certain health conditions that you might have. There are also many states that have an option called a high-risk pool that allows certain uninsurable individuals to obtain coverage. I am a very angry mom who just heard of a case in Colorodo where a toddler was refused health insurance because she was classified as being underweight. The toddler refused health care insurance was perfectly healthy with the exception of a gag reflux condition.
What kind of monsters refuse a toddler health care regardless of Body Weight, ect!!!????
My son was in the 80 percentile of his weight back when he was a toddler. Without any diet restrictions or modifications my son grew into a healthy 17 year old who is now concidered underweight by that same stupid percentile chart. I also recieved yearly reminders from the Public School Health Adminitrator’s that my son is concidered underweight and not meeting his percentile average. My son get’s regular healthy physical’s and I chuck every one of those percentile notices in the trash every time I recieve one!
