My maternity rider coverage states conception must occur 6 months AFTER effective date. So, if my effective date is Oct. 1st, would they provide coverage for conception occuring April 1st? Or must conception occur April 2? How accurately can conception dates be determined?
Technically, if the policy states “6 months”, you are OK with an April 1st conception date. This waiting period is usually provided in days, not months, so you might want to double check the policy details. In making this determination, the insurance company will request medical records and use the conception date that is recorded by your physician. That is cutting it kind of close, so you will most likely have a bit of a battle over this with your insurance company.

Upon obtaining my insurance policy from World Insurance, Maternity was a must. I understood this policy would not allow me to “conceive” within 6 months from the start of the policy HOWEVER, when I recieved the actual policy in the mail, it read that I cannot “deliver” within 6 months of the start of the policy. In short, I found out TODAY, 1/28/10 that I am pregnant. What to do? What is more concrete, what my agent told me OR what World Insurance Co. (themselved) mailed to me. I am a nervous wreck. HELP!!
