My husband & I separated July 22. Last Thursday we went to a standard divorce/separation meeting at Boulder County Court. Came out that he stopped his ( & MY) health insurance benefits through his job - he took “temporary medical leave” or was “temporarily laid off”, I am not sure as Administaff can release information only to him as the primary. Court ordered he remedy this to reinstate my insurance as I was never informed of non-payment. We have a video affidavit filmed in August where he stated he would keep me on his plan until divorce is final (Dec 7, 2009) & I reimburse cost to him. We revisited this in court this past Wednesday and he said he may be going back to work October 1st but had no insurance reinstatement answers. He was ordered by court to again fix this and send me via email any data re: Administaff & United Health & my status. I’ve heard nothing…I take 2 medications daily refilled the end of each month & could not refill for September as the cost is prohibitive. ANY ADVISE???

Have you tried contacting the insurance carrier directly? If you husband was given a COBRA option, you will also be COBRA eligible as a qualified beneficiary. Since you are an insured member under the plan, UnitedHealth should be able to inform you of the status. If it is determined that you are a qualified COBRA beneficiary, this is something that you should be able to arrange without depending on your husband.
