I am a generally healthy person and only earning a low salary. Is there a health plan that I can sign up for considering my budget limitations? I will probably only use it for annual check-ups
Since you are generally healthy, you might opt to pay for your annual physical exam. This is cheaper than getting an expensive health insurance plan to protect you from major illnesses. Even if you have a low salary, there are still short- and long-term health plans available for you. The best way is to contact a local insurance agent to get quotes, and explain the details of each plan. It is also cheaper if you get medical insurance through the company you work for. You are better off looking for a permanent issue individual health plan with a higher deductible. Most health plans offer some first-dollar benefits on preventive health care. Temporary health insurance typically excludes preventive as these policies are more designed for unforeseen events while you are between coverage. We also would not recommend paying cash for your health care in exchange for not having health insurance. This might be fine for a physical exam, but you will not be protected in the event of something more serious. This forum is full of questions from consumers that are trying to purchase a health plan “after-the-fact”.
