Can you recommend a health insurance provider that offers health plans with low premium and low deductible, and that would help cover maternity? My husband and I are self-employed, and our previous employer’s health insurance will be terminated soon.
Keep in mind that it’s not the health insurance provider that you should take into consideration, but the health plans that they offer. You should evaluate costs and benefits of each plan from different insurance companies so you can make an informed decision. Since you’re self-employed, you might want to consider health plans that can be incorporated with medical savings plans. However, plans like these have high deductibles. If you’re worried that your health insurance provider will terminate your existing plan from a previous employer, then you can check if you qualify for COBRA insurance. This will help ensure that you get continued coverage under your existing plan for a couple of months or until you find private health insurance. There’s also short term medical coverage which you can use instead of COBRA. You can also try finding an independent agent that works with a health insurance provider in your area. You can ask the agent which health insurance plans have premiums and deductibles that suit your budget, and which plans will cover maternity. One thing to consider when selecting any health insurance plan is the quality of the company. Premiums among different companies are similar, but you need a company that is going to be there for you when you need them. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida has always been there for clients. You owe it to yourself to see what is available. Berlin and Denys Insurance represents BCBSFL and would be happy to help
