Health Insurance For Everywhere?

I am looking for health insurance that would cover wherever I go in the country or out. I want the range to between $10- $50 a month. Also I get to choose the hospital and doctor if it’s in Chicago. Anywhere else I’ll accept whatever.

Should this health plan also cover you on other planets? :-) I am guessing you aren’t originally from this one, and you may wish to travel home for the holidays. If you could find a health plan that provided the coverage you need, with worldwide coverage and freedom to choose your hospitals, it certainly wouldn’t be available for under $50 per month. Well, maybe if you are under the age of 20 and willing to accept a health plan with a $10,000 annual deductible, you might get close. You have probably seen emails offering health insurance for $29.95 per month. These are deceptive because they aren’t really health insurance, these are discount health plans that only provide you with discounts on specific medical services and do not protect you against financial disaster in the event of a major illness. You can visit our directory for individual health insurance in Illinois. There are many websites that provide instant online quotes from all of the major health insurance companies. You will soon learn that the type of coverage you are seeking does not exist.

  1. That probably did sound kind of ridiculous, but I forgot to mention that I am 69 years old and on Medicare. My current Medicare plan is free, but it does not cover me outside of the United States and I am limited to treatment at only a couple of hospitals in Chicago. I was thinking that for a small premium I could find a Medicare plan that provided me with more mobility.

  2. Yes, that would definitely have made a difference in our response. Medicare Advantage HMO plans will all limit you to the use of physicians and medical facilities in your area. Traveling outside of your network will provide you with only emergency medical treatments only. As far as international coverage, you will need to check with your current carrier on this one. Medicare Part A and B do not provide coverage overseas. Medigap policies Plan C thru Plan J provide coverage for foreign travel emergencies, but these plans will be more costly than your Advantage HMO plan and not as comprehensive.

  3. I am working on getting my parents a good Medicare Advantage plan as they don’t seem to want to decide by themselves. It’s still some time until open enrollment but I want them to get as good a plan as possible. They are both in good health for their age, but they are not the internet generation, so they don’t have access to the information that I do, so in the end I feel that I should help them. Any thoughts and experiences you have with this would be greatly appreciated. I have been doing a lot of studying both online on websites and reading books. I even called a few providers, but I still don’t feel I am at the point were I can decide. I am particularly interested in two options: Blue Cross Smart Value or the Freedom Blue plan. My parents live in San Fransisco by the way.
