Where can I find health insurance brokers who can help me search for a health policy for retirees? And what qualities should I look for in an agent to make sure that he’s reliable and will help me find the right insurance plan?
When you are choosing health insurance brokers, make sure that they have good reputation in the insurance industry. You can ask for referrals from your employer or your friends. You can even get a list of agents in your area through your state insurance department. You should check the brokers’ disciplinary record by calling the state insurance commissioner’s consumer hotline to find out if the brokers have been sued by clients. You can also try searching for the brokers’ names on the Internet and see if anything comes up. You should also find out what type of insurance the health insurance brokers are knowledgeable about. There are agents who focus solely on group health insurance, so the type of insurance they probably represent is not the one you need. You should try finding a broker who specializes in individual health insurance for retired people. Answer by general public - June 26, 2009 @ 10:43 am 1 CommentLeave a comment |

I am an Insurance Broker in the state of Texas. Above is correct and you may want to consider a Medicare Advantage plan if you are 65 or above. CMS is the government agency that regulates that industry. What product you can enroll in will depend on what city you live in. Most agents that sell this type of product, only sell for one company. Most plans are very similar. I would look into the company\’s AM Best rating and complaint ratio on the NAIC website. My focus is Life Insurance but as a Broker, I offer all lines of products (Health, DI, LTC, etc…) and numerous companies. I can be reached at prestonbyron@yahoo.com
