Group Health Insurance Quotes

Q:I am a contractor for a non-profit organization and I am comparing prices for health, dental, vision, short & long term disability insurance. Would you be able to get information to me on these services? We are looking at 7 members plus their dependents; I believe there are at least 4 dependents.

A: We are an online health insurance directory that provides you with links to many different websites. You may view the directory by clicking on the product type you are interested in, business health insurance, and then select your state from the map of the U.S. There you will see a list of agencies, insurance companies and referral services that can provide you with quotes in your state.

You may find that a member of a non-profit organization may not be eligible for coverage under an employer sponsored group plan, unless they are employees or salaried business partners in this organization. Payroll records, business licenses, partnership agreements or article of incorporation may be required from any insurance company. They will need verification that any person you wish to include on the group health plan is actively involved in the daily operations of this not profit organization, and not just a member. In addition, if you are a sub-contractor for this non-profit organization, you may be considered “self-employed” and not eligible to be included on the organizations health plan. Most insurance companies will not recognize a 1099 contractor as a qualified employee of that company.

Check with a local agent in your state for more information on determining if you are able to establish a group health plan for your non-profit.
