I’m planning to switch Florida medical insurance plans because the policy I currently have is too costly. A friend suggested that I get major medical insurance since I’m still young and healthy. What does major medical insurance cover anyway and does it really cost less?
Basic major medical insurance (or catastrophic health insurance) will usually cover emergency medical and hospital expenses. Routine medical care you are currently receiving from your Florida medical insurance plan might not be available with catastrophic health insurance. Emergency or urgent care expenses that a major medical insurance policy cover might include X-rays, CAT scans, MRIs, hospital expenses, surgical costs, diagnostic procedures, and intensive care fees. Individuals who buy major medical insurance are usually individuals who are relatively healthy, seldom go for routine checkups, and take few prescription drugs. These individuals are also capable of paying medical bills for medical services received that are not covered by catastrophic health insurance. This type of insurance policy normally won’t accept an individual with a pre-existing condition. You may be healthy now, but what if you contract an illness that your major medical insurance doesn’t cover? You’ll have to pay for medical treatment from your own pocket. If you really can’t afford to keep your current Florida medical insurance plan, then get the catastrophic health insurance plan just so you have some sort of coverage. You can change plans when you can afford it again. Answer by general public - July 3, 2009 @ 2:33 pm No CommentsNo comments yet. Leave a comment |
