I am on Cobra insurance thru my former employer. My former employer has changed carriers from Aetna to United Health Care.I still have 6 months eligable for Cobra. My question is: Does my Cobra carrier change to UHC? Or do I stay with Aetna. No one can give me an answer. Please help.

Your COBRA insurance is the right to remain insured under your previous employer’s group health plan for a specific period of time. If they change insurance carriers, so do you.

Your previous employer, as well as the new insurance carrier, are obligated to inform you of this change. You need to first contact Aetna and verify your coverage. If this employer has cancelled the coverage, you should have been notified by Aetna. It is possible that the employer has coverage with more than one insurance company to provide employees with an option of carriers. If this is the case, you can remain on the Aetna plan.

  1. What if change was to occur Jan 1, its march, and I have nothing from new Carrier (Aetna). I have no member number however provided group ID and group Num cant be found by Aetna nor CVS pharmacy trying to look it up?
How do I know what the CORBA violations are so I can determine if the law has been broken?
