I am a single mother with one child who just turned 19. He lives at home with me and is attending a local college in New York. He works part time and for the past 3 years he has been covered under Child Health Plus. When he turned 19, they cancelled his benefits. Is there something else that would cover him, as long as he lives at home and a student in college? I need something with low costs like the Child Health Plus has.
There are several options available to provide health insurance to your 19 year-old son, however they are not likely to be as comprehensive or as inexpensive as the Child Health Plus plan. State sponsored children’s health plans are designed to provide health insurance coverage to children of families in certain income brackets, but these plans only cover the child up to the age of 19.
