What are the benefits of Medicare?
Medicare provides for hospitalization, doctor’s visits, outpatient hospital care, physical therapy, home health care, managed healthcare, and prescribed medications. However, these benefits may only be used depending on what ‘Part’ of Medicare you choose to enroll. All individuals who are eligible for Medicare are automatically enrolled in Part A. In Part A, Medicare covers hospitalization expenses. You can also choose to enroll in Part B. This allows Medicare to pay for your doctor’s visits and outpatient hospital care. Enrollment in Part B requires you to pay monthly premiums. In exchange, Medicare covers 80% of your total expenses for doctor’s visits and outpatient health care, while you pay for only 20%. In Part B, you are also required to pay for deductibles before Medicare pays for your medical expenses. The provisions in Part C of Medicare is similar to that of a private health insurance plan. This section is also called Medicare Advantage. It offers managed healthcare, PPO, and fee-for-service coverage options. Like Part B, you can also choose to enroll in Part C. You are required to pay monthly premiums if you enroll in Part C, which are usually higher than the monthly premiums required for Part B. You might also want to check if the Medicare in your area offers Part C as this is only available in certain states. You can also choose to enroll in Part D or Medicare’s new Prescription Drug plan. Like Parts B and C, you are required to pay monthly premiums to allow Medicare to cover your prescribed medications. If you think that you have additional healthcare needs that are not covered by Medicare, you can choose to buy a Medigap health insurance plan. This is a supplemental health insurance plan that helps you pay for deductibles or copays. You can choose from its several health plans whose provisions are standardized and regulated by the government. No CommentsNo comments yet. Leave a comment |
