Can someone give a brief summary of the features, advantages, and disadvantages of the Aetna Open Access Plan? Thanks.
Aetna Open Access HMO Plan already includes vision benefits and Basic Dental for your dental insurance. You can still select Aetna’s Dental PPO network for dental insurance. Other benefits included in the HMO plan are discounts on medical services and products. As mentioned, you don’t have to choose a primary care physician. This allows you the freedom to consult with any physician or specialist within the Aetna network. If you choose to receive services or get supplies out-of-network unless they are eligible emergency or urgent care expenses, then your Aetna plan will not cover them. You can choose a different PCP for your spouse or children, and request to change your PCP anytime. Your Aetna Open Access HMO Plan will also cover the medical services you receive in case of emergency care. You will be covered 24 hours each day for seven days anywhere in the world if Aetna assesses that the emergency care is necessary. For your dependents who do not live with you like children who are eligible out-of-area dependents, they can still be covered by your insurance policy. They will have full coverage if they live in an area where Aetna HMO or Open Access HMO network is available. If not, then only emergency and urgent care will be provided for them, and they will have to go back home for routine care.
